Heather’s practice has focused on legal research and writing since 2010. In this time, she has worked on a number of high-level cases, including several that have gone before the Supreme Court of Canada and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
In the area of criminal law, Heather has worked on everything from first-degree murder to minor drug possession cases. She has also been involved with several dangerous offender appeals and faint hope applications.
Heather performs Supreme Court agency work and is working on a number of class action lawsuits.
From 2006 to 2009, Heather worked as a legal analyst for the Cornwall Public Inquiry, which examined and produced a report on the response of the justice system and other public institutions to allegations of sexual abuse of young people in Cornwall.
Heather articled at a small firm in downtown Ottawa that practiced in the areas of civil litigation, real estate and wills and estates.
Heather graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa law school in 2005 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2006. She obtained an Honours degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Western Ontario in 1998.
Heather loves to travel. After completing her English degree and before attending law school, she spent a year and a half living in Australia, two years teaching English as a Foreign Language in Japan and several months travelling through Asia.
Heather completed her Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2006 and her Mindfulness Teacher Training in 2014. She teaches yoga to children and adults and Mindfulness courses to professionals.
